Buddy scrub: your friend with benefits

Hi everyone!

Hope you are enjoying your weekend so far. To celebrate two days off from work, I have decided to treat myself with a very special product from Australia called Buddy Scrub. You can choose from three different options: raw cacao, green tea and charcoal. I decided to buy the first two in order to find out what benefits they could have on my skin.

Since I was a kid I’ve always had dermatological issues. I suffer from atopic dermatitis (eczema), a type of inflammation of the skin which involved having dry, itchy, red, swollen and cracked skin. Moreover, those who go through this tend to scratch so much that they can end up with other skin problems. Luckily, I’ve got better as I’ve got older but I still get it quite bad in my hands and arms, especially under extreme temperatures.

One of the reasons why I like this product is the fact that it is made with vegan ingredients and has no harsh chemicals. They recommend customers to test it first on a patch of skin and to check that they don’t have any allergies to their ingredients. Each bag contains 200 grams. The packaging is extremely cute and funny! Once it’s open it can last up to six months. It is also important that you don’t get any water inside the bag so they recommend that you keep it in a dry, cool place.

When you rip off the top of the cacao flavoured scrub, you are hit with this astonishing smell. It’s like smelling a big chocolate cake! The Raw Cacao scrub contains coconut oil (which reduces the appearance of wrinkles, sagging and clears away the dead skin cells), sweet almond oil, rich in vitamin E and reduces the appearance of acne and blemishes and grape seed oil with antiseptic qualities that helps to keep your skin glowing and moisturised. They do warn you not to eat it, even though it seems quite tempting!

The Green Tea scrub has a very calming aroma. Like the Raw Cacao, it also contains sea salt, sugar, coconut oil and grape seed oil. However, this also has jojoba oil which restores the natural oil balance of your skin. It is also rich in vitamins A, D and E, Omega 6 and 9 fatty acids.

The Raw Cacao and the Charcoal scrubs cost $15.95 or you can purchase the Green Tea scrub for $14.95. I got mine from TK Maxx in the UK, although there weren’t many on display. Sadly, at the moment they only seem to sell these products online in Australia and in the USA. However, they do international deliveries and accept Paypal payments, which I think is great! I calculated the delivery charges to the UK and they cost $11.90 AUD (around £6.13). I think I’m definitely going to order more!

I’m following their Twitter account from @researchb4spend, in case you want to find them. These scrubs are lovely so I encourage you to give them a go. I promise you won’t be disappointed!

Get your mani & pedi ready for the summer!

The weather was glorious today. The sun was shining, girls were wearing skater dresses, others had sandals on, guys were looking cool with their sunglasses… which means that Summer is officially here! YAY!

I can’t wait to go on holiday so I can use all the new nail polish that I have bought recently. Here’s a selection of some of my favourites.

My first choice is the Rimmel 60 Seconds Super Shine by Rita Ora. I chose the shade 878 Roll in the grass. It is simply stunning! It has a green/turquoise tone that is perfect for the day. You can find this one in Superdrug for only £2.99. Besides, it dries so quickly that you’ll be able to apply it even if you are considering spending your day in the swimming pool.

The second one that I have chosen is Orly Color Blast Aqua Neon. Unlike the first one, this has a more blueish tone. It is so beautiful and stylish that you’ll be wanting to wear it all the time! I simply adore this one. You can find it at Boots for £6.33.

The next nail varnish that I have selected is My Pal Joey by O.P.I from the Hello Kitty nail polish collection. This is a medium/dark blue tone that is ideal for going out at night. It’s RRP was £11.50 but you can get it from Nail Polish Direct for just £5.95. They have some amazing deals on there!

I am also in love with the shade My Twin Mimmy (this one is part of the O.P.I Hello Kitty collection too). It has a shiny yellow colour that is chip resistant, long lasting and perfect for the music festivals season! You can purchase it for £8.95.

I had to include an orangey tone in my list so I chose the Do me a flavour nail varnish by Leighton Denny. I got myself this one when I spent a weekend at Ragdale Hall Health Hydro and Thermal Spa. You can find it here as part of a 12 set collection. It is a lovely tangerine colour perfect for those sunny days sunbathing on the beach!

I tend to wear a lot of red polish. It just looks so sexy and goes well with lots of different colours. My selection here is the Rimmel Kate Salon Pro 317 Hip Hop. I found it at Lloyds Pharmacy for £4.49.

If you don’t fancy colours that are too bright and prefer a more subtle look, then the 72 pink’ed Max Factor Glossfinity nail polish might be suitable. It is very easy to apply and dries pretty much instantly. There is a wide range of colours at Boots and it only costs £5.99.

Last summer I started to use the Rimmel 60 Seconds Super Shine 560 Lovey Dovey. You can buy it from Superdrug for £2.99. The quality is fantastic (as is the price!). It can last for up to a week and looks very shiny. All my friends kept making compliments about how beautiful it looked. It made me so happy!

If you like white tones, then you will love the Kitty White by O.P.I. It has a pearl finish that will make your nails look strikingly beautiful. If you want to obtain a more opaque effect, then all you need to do is apply two or three layers. You can purchase this one for just £5.55!

My last recommendation is the Rimmel 60 Seconds Rita Ora  558 Go Wild-Er-Ness. This is a mauve tone that looks a bit lighter than the 560 Lovey Dovey. The price is very affordable (only costs £2.99) and it will match those summer holiday outfits. Boots now has an offer that says that you can buy one Rimmel product and get a second one half price. I am definitely getting more of these!

I hope you have enjoyed this post. I’d love to hear which are your favourite colours for this summer!

♥ My favourite foundations ♥

I love Saturday mornings. I really like being woken up by the rays of sunlight (though most of the time is by my cat licking my face demanding food!), having a warm cup of green tea while still in bed and shopping on-line on my iPad. Ahhh, the little joys of life!

I know a lot of you will be out partying tonight, so I thought that I’d write a post about some of my favourite foundations. I have always preferred liquid ones because I have oily skin and I am extremely picky with what I apply on my face.

For those of you who tend to suffer with breakouts regularly, I highly recommend the brand Clinique. I began to use it when I was in high school and have been a fan ever since! One of my favourite products is Clinique’s Even Better Makeup. It has an oil free formula and SPF 15, which prevents hyper-pigmentation. It is very light, covers all imperfections and looks so natural that no one would think that you have any make-up on! I know it’s a bit pricey for every day use (costs £25.00) but the good news is that you don’t need to apply tons of it to look great. If you use a small amount and blend it properly, this little gem will last you a long time. I use the 05 Neutral shade with a Natural finish because I am quite pale and this gives me a instant suntanned look.

Another foundation that I use very often, especially when I go to work, is the Lasting Performance foundation from Max Factor. For this one, I usually go for the 105 soft beige as it gives me a very fresh look but, of course, you need to choose a tone that is right for your skin colour. This product costs £9.99 in Boots and here in the UK they have an offer at the moment that says that you get a free gift when you spend £14.99 or more on selected Max Factor products.

For a night out or special occasions I usually go for the MAC Pro Longwear SPF 10 foundation. I ABSOLUTELY ADORE THIS! A bottle of 30 ml costs £25.50 but it can last you months. It creates a flawless matte finish that is durable and will leave your skin feeling extremely silky. This foundation also resists the heat, sweat and controls oil. It is one of my favourite acquisitions of all times! I got myself the NW18 shade. I suggest that you go into a store like Selfridges and check the shades that they have available so you can choose one that is suitable for you.

One alternative product that I also like very much and that is great value for money is the L’OREAL Paris Lumi Magique foundation, which costs £10.99 in Boots. I like using it during the day when I’m out and about. Its liquid light technology will make your face feel soft and hydrated. In all honesty, I don’t think the coverage of imperfections is as mint as what you get with the MAC or the Max Factor foundations. However, if you add a bit of concealer, you’ll look great!

Finally, when I go to the beach I usually apply my EAU Thermale Avène tinted cream with SPF 50. It’s paraben-free, protects you against sun radiation and it’s also water resistant. The 50 ml tube comes with a pump that makes it very easy to apply, especially if you are already on the beach! I normally buy this product in a pharmacy when I go to Spain. Here in the UK you can get it from Boots, Lloys Pharmacylookfantastic.com, Escentual or LandysChemist. This is definitely the perfect way of looking great and protecting your skin while you sunbathe at the same time!

Enjoy the rest of the weekend!

Om SHE Aromatherapy: make your problems go away!

Hi all!

It’s been a while since the last time that I posted an article. These last few days have been a bit of a nightmare for me. Every now and then I go through these migraine episodes that leave me with blurry vision and nasty earaches so I have been feeling a bit under the weather  😦

Something that I find very relaxing and that helps me when I get my terrible headaches is aromatherapy. Whenever I have a massage done, I tend to choose this option because it releases the tension in my muscles and also helps me to switch off completely from the worries and the stress of every day life.

There is a brand that I really like and that I discovered in TK Maxx about a year ago. It is called Om SHE Aromatherapy. This brand was launched in Melbourne, Australia in 1996. One thing that I value a lot about them is the fact that they don’t test their products on animals… well done! As well as this, these aromatherapy-based products are sulphate and paraben free, their smell is absolutely gorgeous and they feel so nice on your skin.

Om She Aromatherapy sells a wide range of cosmetics, oils, skin and hair products. I recently purchased the milk & honey body soufflé and the honey & peach body butter at TK Maxx. Honestly, the smell is sublime! Each pot contains 250 g and costs around £4.00.

Another product that I truly love and that I normally use when I am having a relaxing bath is the ocean mist moisturising body wash. This is currently being sold on their Australian website for A$12.95 but cost me around £4.00 in TK Maxx. They have a huge range of lovely fragrances (mango & orange, lime & coconut, blueberry & strawberry, white tea & bergamot, etc.).

If you are lucky to have a partner, relative or friend who enjoys giving massages, then I recommend the pure botanicals miracle body oil. Play some meditation music in the background and you will instantly feel your problems fade away. This oil contains Rosewood, Neroli, Rose Otto, Palmarosa, Bergamot, Sweet Almond, Jojoba, anti-oxidant Rosehip and Vitamin E. If you cannot afford going to a Spa, this is the way to transport yourself there for a fraction of the price!

Apart from TK Maxx, I am not quite sure about where else you could get these products from here in the UK. However, you could always visit their website and keep in touch with them. A lot of their products sell very quickly due to the high demand so, if you really fancy one of their goodies, you can always contact them and I’m sure that they will try to have it back in stock as soon as possible.

I saw on their website that they do international deliveries. The postage to the UK costs A$21.50 (around £10.86). Receiving your items could take up to ten days and you’d also need to bear in mind that you have to cover all duties and taxes of your country.

Enjoy your evening!

Nip+Fab products: the clue’s in the name

Ohhh Nip+Fab… how much I love you! I have been using this brand for about two years now and my love for it just keeps growing. I went shopping recently (how weird!) and got myself a few of their goodies.

Let me start with the Glycolic Fix Daily Cleansing Pads. Each pot contains 60 pads that you can use to exfoliate and clean your face. You can use these across your neck, face and décolleté in the morning or at night.

The results will appear pretty much instantly. It contains a pleasant blue daisy smell that will leave your face feeling refreshed, hydrated and soft. I have read loads of reviews about this product and many people who suffer break-outs, eczema or have sensitive skin highly recommend it.

For me, this product is perfect because it isn’t heavy and leaves your skin feeling incredibly smooth. I purchased this on ASOS for £13.00. However, you can also buy these pads from the Nip+Fab website or use a very similar pot from the same brand sold at Boots called Nip + Fab Glycolic Fix Exfoliating Facial for just £6.49!

Another product that I have also included in my daily routine is the Glycolic Fix Cleanser, which you can find in the Nip+Fab bestsellers section. It is also one of Kylie Jenner’s favourite products!

The bottle contains 150 ml of the cleanser, which has a lovely citrus smell. All you need to do is apply a small amount on the palm of your hand, massage it on damp skin and then rinse it with lukewarm water. If you tend to have a lot of spots, this will clear them up in a few days and will leave you with beautiful glow skin.

I normally use it in the morning and at night with a facial cleansing brush to make sure that I clean my face properly. I got this from Boots for £3.97 but it also comes as part of the Kylie Morning Skincare Routine Set, available on Nip+Fab’s website for £35.00.

The Bee Sting Deluxe Body Soufflé contains 200 ml and cost me £5.24. The smell is quite subtle but it is also very pleasant. Unlike other creams, it is not sticky and my skin absorbed it pretty much immediately. It contains bee venom which, according to Nip+Fab, helps to smooth fine lines and wrinkles.

Another of the treats that I got myself was the Glycolic Fix Scrub. This little gem contains 75 ml and only cost me £4.97. I only use this once a week while I am having a long and relaxing bubble bath. It has a lovely grapefruit citrus smell and the texture is very light. Your face will look bright, soft and youthful!

The last product that I want to tell you about is the Bee Sting Fix Lifting Mask. The bottle contains 50 ml and cost me £4.97. The package says it is anti-oxidant, antiseptic and has a healing effect. One option is to use it as an overnight treatment and then rinse your face in the morning. Alternatively you can apply it on your face at night after cleaning your face, leaving it on for 15 minutes and then rinsing with warm water.

In the UK, Boots now has a buy 3 for 2 offer on Nip+Fab products, so if you like the look of them, this is your chance! 🙂

Have a lovely weekend!

Tip to keep your make-up sponges clean

Today I want to share a tip with you that will keep your make-up sponges dirt free and in mint condition. I learnt this during my first year of university. Back then being a student my money was very limited, so I had to learn different ways to save up money. This trick was one of them!

One of my friends, who was doing her Fine Arts degree, mentioned that a lot of painters used this method to clean their brushes. It is very simple and you will find that the results are AWESOME!

Things that you will need are:

-washing up liquid (I usually buy Fairy Antibacterial. They have some with different smells such as Eucalyptus or Aloe Vera & Cucumber that smell really nice!)

-olive oil

I know! It is as simple as that!

Step 1. Grab a deep plate or bowl and add a tablespoon of washing up liquid mixed with a tablespoon of olive oil.  If you are cleaning a lot of sponges, then you can increase the quantity but keep the proportions the same.

Step 2. Cover your make-up sponges with this mixture.

Step 3. Wash your make-up sponges under warm water. It is important that you squeeze them hard, quickly and quite a few times. At this point you will see the dirt coming out and your sponges will start to look much cleaner. Make sure that you keep squeezing them until all the washing-up liquid has come out!

Step 4. Leave the make-up sponges on a flat surface to dry over night. Sometimes it can take up a whole day for them to get completely dry.

Et voilà! Now you can have your make-up sponges looking as new as when you first bought them 🙂

My favourite Lee Stafford hair products

Today I’d like to talk about some of my favourite hair products. There is a brand that I have been using a lot since I started to dye my hair into blonde and that is Lee Stafford. One of the best things that I have found out is that Boots usually has a special offer for these. You can buy 3 Lee Stafford products for £15. Bargain!

As a Spaniard, my hair colour is naturally dark, but I love the way I look with blonde hair. When I started to change my hair colour, I had to bleach it quite a lot in a very short amount of time. This left my hair severely damaged and dry. My hairdresser recommended that I started using the Bleach blondes’ shampoo, which is suitable for bleached or highlighted hair. I was a bit sceptical about it to begin with, but when I saw that the horrible yellow tones suddenly disappeared, I almost cried out of happiness!

The only issue that I see with this shampoo is that your hair can turn a bit purple/pink if you use it too often; hence why I started to alternate it with the Everyday blondes shampoo (also suitable for natural, highlighted or bleached blondes). They cost around £6.99 individually.

Another product that rescued my poor badly treated hair was the Nutiva Organic Virgin Coconut Oil. I know what you must be thinking right now: hang on a second, isn’t that for cooking!? Well… yes… but I have to say that it is one of the best things that I have used on to my hair during its worst days. Apply it as a hair mask and leave it on for about 20 or 30 minutes while your hair is still wet. Trust me. If you hair makes you look like a scarecrow, this is definitely worth a try!

Another product that I tend to carry with me in my handbag is the Coco Loco coconut balm. It costs £6.99 and has the benefit that you can use it any time, anywhere because of its size. Plus the coconut smell is absolutely gorgeous! In this range, you can also find the Coco Loco shampoo, which is a bit cheaper than the others that I mentioned above. However, I don´t think this is the best if your hair is in a very bad state.

As you can imagine, whenever I’m on holiday in Spain, I spend a lot of time sunbathing on the beach with my friends. When I’m there, I use the Beach babe sea salt spray or the Poker straight spray. They cost around £8.00 pounds each and will leave your hair feeling smooth and silky. My hair is naturally curly so after I go swimming it gets very tangled and it is difficult to manage unless I use these products. I can assure you that they will make your life so much easier during your holidays!

Finally, if your hair tends to break easily, then I suggest that you use the Bleach blondes’ conditioner or the Hair growth treatment pink. Don´t worry. You won´t turn into Rapunzel from one day to another; instead you will find that your hair becomes stronger, healthier and more shiny, smooth and hydrated. This last product costs around £8.49 and needs to be apply with a head massage while in the shower.

Seriously, these hair products are AMAZING! So why don’t you give them a go?

The day that I discover TempleSpa

20160513_174812This year I turned 31. 31! I KNOW! It makes me laugh whenever I see other young bloggers getting scared about turning 25. Well, wait and see how you feel when you pass the 30s barrier and still have no clue of what you want to do with your life *smiles*.

Anyway, I decided that if I was going to start getting old, I had to try and age with some style. I wanted to get away from the hectic lifestyle that London sucks you into. As Rihanna sings, all we do during the week is Work, Work, Work; SO after doing some research, I managed to find this wonderful place in Wilmington, Kent called Rowhill Grange Hotel & Utopia Spa.

God, what a fantastic idea this was! I was lucky to be upgraded to one of their master suites called Groombridge. The room was amazing! Spacious, with lots of natural light coming through the skylights and decorated with great taste. There was also a seating and dining area, a Nespresso coffee machine and an Ipod decking station, which for me is always a bonus. I could not survive without music. Then there was this staircase, which I decided to call the Stairway to Heaven.

Oh, yes.

I close my eyes now and can hear Led Zeppelin playing while climbing up those steps that would take me to paradise. Because, let me tell you, the bathroom at the top of those stairs was AWESOME!

Strawberries and chocolate, along with a bottle of champagne were waiting for me next to the biggest bathtub I have ever been to. There was a large range of L´Occitane toiletries available every morning and a flat screen TV that you could enjoy watching while having a relaxing bubble bath. The price for this room ranges from £339.00 to £480.00 a night, so definitely not cheap but for a birthday treat, that’s OK.

Whilst I was there, I also had a range of treatments done in their UTOPIA Spa. I know that these usually depend on a lot of things (age, skin needs, special requirements, etc.) so obviously I will talk about my personal choices:

For my facial treatment, I decided to go for the Tri-Dosha Supreme Results – Shilajita Mumiyo. This costs £85 and lasts for 55 minutes. I usually have a Dermalogica prescriptive facial because, well, I LOVE Dermalogica products but also because they give me everything that I need to leave my skin feeling radiant and healthy. When I saw the name of this treatment I had absolutely no idea what I was going to get so I was a bit nervous about it.

I shouldn’t have worried, as it was a great experience! The beautician was lovely, the room was cosy, the music was relaxing. And here is when I discovered this wonderful face mask that I would like to recommend to everyone on this planet! Purification deep cleansing mask. It is great for oily skin like mine and does miracles with those nasty blackheads. It feels very light and because it is made with marine mud and natural extracts it leaves your skin feeling refreshed and so smooth. You can purchase it online at this website and it costs £25. Seriously, this is one of the best purchases that I have ever made!

Another product that I discovered after having my facial treatment was the All Talk Moisturising Lip Balm. It has a citrus fruit aroma, flavoured with orange, thyme, lemon and lime, which is very refreshing. It gets to work immediately and leaves your lips feeling completely hydrated and soft. Its price is £6.50. I normally use it when I am at home. However, when I spend a lot of time out and about, I tend  to carry my Nivea Lip Butter in my handbag. The ones that I like are “Vanilla & Macadamia” and “Coconut” because they smell delicious! They can be purchased at Sainsbury´s for £2.00 so are great for carrying around on a daily basis.

I also had a manicure and pedicure at the spa, and so I want to talk about two products that have become essential for me. These are the AVOPLEX nail & cuticle replenishing oil and the NAIL ENVY nail strengthener by OPI. I have a tendency to wash my hands several times during the day, especially if I go on the tube or the train. I know… you could say that I am a bit paranoid but I caught a nasty infection in my eyes a few years ago called Keratitis and the ophthalmologist told me that it was likely that I caught it in a place like that after having my hands dirty and touching my eyes! Ewww… Anyway, going back to the nails, as you can imagine, with all that washing they tend to break quite easily. But these two products really do wonders for them. It´s a great way to pamper your nails at home! I recently saw that you can buy them in a packet called Dream Duo, which actually works out a bit cheaper (£19.50). You can find them here.
